Speedway star and former world champion; Gary Havelock is the latest star to be added to the Celebrity team for the big game against the Game Time professionals on Sunday 4th May. The event is part of a big basketball bonanza with a feast of basketball on show throughout the day. Fans can come and go as they please throughout the event and the £3 ticket provides entry to all games, including the celebrity game at 4pm. For those basketball fans staying for the whole event, the cafe will be open from 12-3pm and then a shop will be open downstairs from 3-5pm.
Gary is a member of the Championship winning speedway outfit, Redcar Bears and won the Sports Personality of the Year 2007 award at the Gazette/BBC Tees sports awards and led the Bears to the Jack Young Trophy last year. He has represented Great Britain and is a former world champion after winning the title in 1992. Gary is also a Sky Sports TV presenter covering speedway.
In 2007 Gary helped a team of Middlesbrough FC legends and celebrities win the Premier League All Stars football tournament which was shown on Sky One.
