Middlesbrough Lions travel to Holyhead Celts today in what will be their first National Founders Cup game. Lions were due to play Westleigh Warriors at home 2 weeks ago but the Lancashire team pulled out and in their place Lions put in a great performance against Durham Wildcats which should provide them with a boost in Wales.
The Wrexham based Celts have a number of threats, most notably Ben Lewis and Neil Williams. Lewis was in good scoring form against Darfield, although the Celts lost 62-48.
Damian Warriner will be a key player for Lions after a strong display at Eston Sports Academy. Lions new signings; Chris Lyle and Ryon Dixon will also travel. Rob Bryson and Michael Wassell are doubts for the game.
Last seasons winners; London Lithuanians got off to the right start in The London Central region with a 93-77 win over Met Police Trident. The result of the week though was the 104-67 thrashing of Richmond Jaguars by Kingston Wildcats. James Cook leading scorers with 29pts.
Middlesbrough’s next home game is on Sunday 16th November against Menwith Hill USA Air base at Eston Sports Academy. Tip is at 4pm although arrive before 3.40 for team intros. Lions U15 team will also feature at 1pm in the Junior National League game against North Shields Storm. Tickets are available on the door or in advance from Eston Sports Academy on 01642 452488.
