HOUSE sellers hoping to attract a buyer over the Easter holidays should give their front door the "wow" factor, according to property expert Sarah Beeny.

The founder of estate agent Tepilo.com said Easter mark the start of peak house selling season, so the long bank holiday weekend is the perfect time for sellers to make sure their homes are looking their best.

Geometric patterned tiles, freshly-painted walls and a front door that creates the right first impression could all help sellers seal a deal, according to Beeny.

Here are Beeny's tips for house sellers:

1. Although interior trends come and go, buyers are attracted to homes with interiors that feel very "now".

Key current trends include brass and gold taps, geometric patterned tiles and woodwork painted a darker shade than the main walls.

2. Clean, freshly-painted walls create a great first impression. Paint over any scuffs and chips on skirting boards.

3. Give your front door the "wow" factor. A great-looking front door will make your property stand out. To give a tired-looking door an update, consider replacing the handles and letter box.

4. Tidy up your kitchen and bathroom. Give bathrooms an update by hiding unsightly pipework, repairing or replacing worn tiling and investing in new taps. In the kitchen, if worktops and door handles are looking worn replace them to transform the room. New flooring can have a similar transforming effect.

5. Make sure your garden or outside space is full of plants and flowers for spring. Tackle jobs including trimming back bushes, getting rid of dead plants and weeds and cleaning out guttering.
