AN RAF worker who says he has lost nearly two years of his life to cancer is to visit all of the country's 20 Premier League grounds on his bicycle to raise cash for Cancer Research.

Stuart Stephenson, from Northallerton, says his planned thousand mile ride, which will take about 12 days to complete, is also a thank you to the medics that have helped him.

The 54-year-old, who has a wife and two daughters and is originally from Liverpool, was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in his colon two years ago.

He was also treated for lesions in his liver as a result of complications from his treatment.

Stuart, who works for the RAF, said: “I have lost nearly two years to cancer, from diagnosis to initial resolution, each stage of treatment leaving me weaker and weaker.

"However, I am quietly confident and looking forward to the challenge."

Janet Leafe, Cancer Research UK’s local fundraising manager, said: "Every day, scientists, doctors and nurses are working to save more lives. They’re preventing more cancers, diagnosing the disease earlier and developing new treatments to give people like Stuart diagnosed with cancer the best chance of surviving."
