MOUNTAIN bikers have a new track to get to grips with at Hamsterley Forest.

The new K-Line single track mountain bike trail was created by voluntary group the Hamsterley Trailblazers with the support of the local Forestry Commission team.

It replaces another forest road section on the red graded Transmission Line trail and completes 1.3km of continuous single track full of testing features.

Alex Talks, chairman of the Hamsterley Trailblazers, said: "As a red trail it is rollable for competent riders, but its features have been carefully designed to max the fun level for more progressive riding. Age, young or old, is not a limiting factor.”

Alex MacLennan, Forestry Commission recreation manager, praised the group for its work to develop a trail that was planned back in 2006 and said the new part is one of the most progressive sections of mountain bike trail in the North.

The Trailblazers raised £43,000 to build K-Line with funds from a variety of sources.
