A mother-of-two is in for a "Topping" Christmas after winning our "Find Sammie" competition.

Melissa Swales, from Northallerton, followed the clues to find Sammie at Roseberry Topping and win £50 of Sam Turner vouchers.

Sammie is the familiar character who has been adopted as the mascot for Sam Turner and Sons.

In the run-up to Christmas, Sammie went into hiding in the North-East countryside and each week we gave a clue to his whereabouts in the Country Life section of www.northernecho.co.uk.

The winner was the first to email the correct location after midday on Monday, December 19.

Melissa, along with Michael Lovegreen and Andrea Franklin all emailed the correct answer - Roseberry Topping - at exactly midday, so their names had to go into a hat.

Melissa, who is both a farmer's wife and a farmer's daughter, was chosen as the winner.

The mum of Daniel, eight, and Lily, six, said: "I love shopping at Sam Turner's, it has absolutely everything, so I'm absolutely thrilled."

The clues leading to Sammie being hidden at Roseberry Topping are below.
