Apatow: Fox funnier than we realise
Judd Apatow has revealed that Megan Fox's comedic talents are largely hidden.
The former Transformers star has a cameo in Judd's new film This Is 40, and the filmmaker admitted that he was inspired to bring out her comedy chops after seeing her on Saturday Night Live.
"She was on Saturday Night Live hosting and she was really funny, and my wife Leslie Mann said, 'We should do something with her'. When I was writing this, I thought this would be a great part for Megan and then she came in and was hysterical," he said.
"She really is a very funny girl, and unique. With people who are pretty, people assume they can't do anything else - it's like if she's pretty and is a good actress, then the world isn't fair at all. But she's a great actress and she makes us laugh."
This Is 40 is a family affair for Judd, whose wife Leslie stars opposite Paul Rudd. The couple's two daughters Iris and Maude play Leslie and Paul's screen kids too.
"I live with three women and it's almost like I live with three eras of the same woman. There's all sorts of craziness happening in my house all the time," he said.
And he joked: "It's not stressful because it's the only time they listen to me. As soon as the movie ends, no one listens to me at all. I'm just a schmuck in the house."
This Is 40 is in cinemas now.
