Readers of The Northern Echo were invited to choose their favourite photograph in a competition to promote the region as a fantastic place to visit.

The shortlist of ten photographs, featured here, were selected by the paper’s chief photographer, Richard Doughty.

The competition was run in conjunction with the Passionate people, Passionate places North-East England campaign.
