Elton John reader review by Emma Hardwick
5:00pm Sunday 6th July 2008
JUST when you thought Elton was going to have to change song titles to Soggy Seems To Be The Hardest Word or Don't Let The Rain Go Down On Me the downpours stopped and Darlington's arena enjoyed a cool but enjoyable Knight of history.

Goldfrapp, The Sage, Gateshead
9:45am Friday 4th July 2008
THE stage set was an unsettling combination of English village fete, with bunting hanging from the lights, and a Pagan fertility rite that might topple into ritualistic sacrifice at any moment.

Futureheads at Glastonbury
4:50pm Thursday 3rd July 2008
BACKSTAGE at Glastonbury. Paparazzi gather by a gateway for a snap of one of Bob Geldof's fame-hungry daughters.

The Zutons, Dalby Forest, Easingwold
8:39am Tuesday 1st July 2008

Tonight Is Goodbye, Newcastle Carling Academy 2

THE Northern Sinfonia, under the baton of Michal Dwozynski, enthralled a near-capacity audience with a programme of great romantic works.

Boyzone, Metro Arena, Newcastle
8:43am Friday 20th June 2008
FEARING the onset of an early mid-life crisis, one of my oldest friends and I went to a Boyzone concert.

John Foxx, Durham Castle
8:44am Friday 20th June 2008
DURHAM Castle's venerable Great Hall has never witnessed anything quite like it. A capacity audience was bathed in a swirl of colour - both visual and musical - when impressario John Foxx presented his Cathedral Oceans at the Durham Arts Festival.

Abba Mania, Darlington Civic Theatre
9:29am Tuesday 10th June 2008
DANCING queens and kings got out their platform glitter boots and squeezed into their electric blue Lycra for a good old party time at the Civic when Abba Mania, probably the bestknown Abba tribute show, came to town.

AS any music fan will know, grey skies and rain tend to put a bit of a dampener on outdoor music festivals.
