Keith Jarrett/Setting Standards
(ECM 173 7344)

It's a surprise to find that it's 25 years since Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette first recorded as the Standards Trio. To mark the occasion ECM have launched the first of a reissue series with a little box containing all three of their first CDs, Standards Volumes 1 & 2, and Changes. The rapport and the joyous rapture of the session are brilliantly captured on this lovely set which still sounds remarkably fresh and exciting.

Charles Lloyd/Rabo de Nuba
(ECM 175 4811)

Jarrett's erstwhile leader Charles Lloyd celebrates his 70th birthday with this new live album which also introduces the newest edition of his quartet.

Lloyd and drummer Eric Harland are now joined by pianist Jason Moran and bass player Reuben Rogers to make a remarkably accomplished quartet. With Lloyd featured on tenor saxophone, flute and tarogato there's a lovely mix of experience and energy, producing an extremely wellbalanced album.
