Remotely useful

ADDING to your collection of electronic items may make you the envy of your friends, but at least they won't have to deal with an increasing pile of remotes.

Phillips reckons it has the answer in the SRU8015 universal remote which costs £69 from pixmania.co.uk.

Featuring a colour display and loads of icons, this remote makes navigating child's play. With the ability to control up to 15 of your electronic devices, this should have most people's homes covered.

Or how about the Logitech Harmony 1100, which has a feature list as long as my arm?

You customise the controls so you get exactly the right machines to power up at your request, then select the icons you want to see for each command.

The Logitech Harmony puts the fun back into remote controlling - but then it does cost an eyewatering £349!
