Over to Boston for the third CD by this versatile ensemble led by saxophonist Daniel Ian Smith.
As you might expect it’s tighter and more structured, but with many fine soloists who cope easily with the varied moods and tempos.
I especially enjoyed Ted Pease’s Trilogy dedicated to Thad Jones, Billy Strayhorn and Bill Holman.
