The Royal Scottish National Orchestra performs this piece, composed during Rousel’s earlier impressionistic period.
The work depicts the beauty and violence of insect life in a garden. The CD includes his opera-ballet Padmavati, which uses aspects of Indian music.
Compelling listening.
