Inspired by an exhibition staged by the British Library, which brought a treasure trove of illuminated manuscripts collected by the kings and queens of England between the 9th and 16th centuries.
Alongside works from the Eton Choirbook performed by The Sixteen are fascinating pieces from medieval and Renaissance France sung by the Hilliard Ensemble.
Rounded off by Tallis’s monumental Spem in Alium. A must.
