DIERKS Bentley has come a long way since he released his first self-titled album in 2003. Since then, he has charted seven number one singles and produced the same number of albums, the last of which is released in Britain on Monday.
His last album, Up On The Ridge, took on a bluegrass and roots theme and earned praise and credibility.
This new offering is his best to date. Having used various musical stylings over the years, it seems at his most comfortable with the 12 tracks here. Themes and subjects take in country verities, life on the road, love, friendship, family and country appreciation and the classic... hell-raising.
Also included on a track called When You Come Around are the sultry duetting tones of Karen Fairchild from Little Big Town.
On the final track, Thinking Of You, you can hear Bentley’s threeyear- old daughter, Evie, on vocals singing about how much she misses her father when he’s away on tour. Schmultzy perhaps, but quite unique and perhaps that is the strength of the album.
He has already had a number one chart success with one of the tracks released as a single, Am I The Only One, and there are more to follow from this release.
