ODDBALL drama opening with a horrific car crash in which a drunk high school student (Brit Marling) causes an accident, killing two passengers in the other car and putting the driver (William Mapther) into a coma.
She gets out of jail to find earthlings gazing awestruck at the discovery of a planet with exactly the same atmosphere and geography as Earth.
With her identity hidden, she tries to make amends for her vehicular sins by cleaning for the widowed driver while joining the space race to visit the new planet.
What it’s all about is anyone’s guess but Another Earth exerts a certain hypnotic quality.
