WHILE her husband (McGregor) is away at war, Mrs Green (Gyllenhaal) valiantly takes charge of the family farm with her three children, Norman (Butterfield), Megsie (Woods) and Vincent (Steer).
Chaos ensues when snooty, well-to-do cousins Cyril (Vlahos) and Celia (Taylor- Ritson) come to stay and take an immediate dislike to the rest of the brood.
Thankfully, Nanny McPhee (Thompson) arrives in the nick of time to prevent serious injury. Meanwhile, Mrs Green’s brother Phil (Ifans) schemes to get his sister to sell the farm so he can pay off his spiralling debts and avoid a beating from Miss Topsey (Matthews) and Miss Turvey (Brand).

This gripping and suspenseful yarn adapted from the bestselling novel by Stieg Larsson, pulls no punches with violence meted out and images of torture and sexual abuse.
Director Neils Arden Oplev ensures that every bone-crunching punch is vital to the serpentine narrative.

Glenn Ficarra and John Requa’s film is sweet and at times hilarious, posing the obvious dilemma: can a gay con man go straight? The writer-directors strike a pleasing balance between laughter and soul-searching.
