CHRISTOPHER Somerville reckons we no longer know much about the islands we live on.
So in Never Eat Shredded Wheat he delivers a canned, no-nonsense, geographical dissection of the UK. He rolls through counties, the major cities, rivers, mountains, industries and stereotypes.
His foray into the spirit of (selected) UK cities is humorous and full of rich detail.
Overall, it’s an easy read and is packed with a wealth of information – making it a must for pub quiz fans.
And it’s good to know someone else was taught that Great Britain looks like an old lady riding a pig...
