WORKING on a farm near Masham is no picnic for young Amy Appleton for the hours are long, the job is back-breaking and the farmer, Ben is of a naturally gloomy outlook which is not improved by sheep rustling and a plague among the cattle.
Hope – and even romance – are on hand in the shape of the cheerful and carefree Patrick, but dark forces are gathering on the moors and death has set his sights on Amy, Patrick and Ben. You get the full flavour of the Yorkshire Dales in this historical drama, which never fails to surprise and entertain.
