WINSTON Churchill has had tomes written by him and about him, yet Hastings has managed to take a well-worn subject and injected it with new life.

This is an absorbing account. While acknowledging Churchill’s strengths, Hastings does not shirk when it comes to highlighting his strategic failures. A worthy addition to the period.
