FAR After Gold is the third novel by North- East author Jen Black and it deals with a range of issues, such as slavery, attempted rape and murder, albeit smoothed over with a strong romantic plot and a happy ending.

When pretty and strong-willed Emer is abducted from her Hebridean home by Vikings and ends up being sold at a slave market in Dublin, her only thought is escape and finding her way back home. Her chance comes when her new owner, a handsome young warrior, takes her back to his settlement in Scotland. Maybe he will give her back her freedom – even if he is a vile Viking.

Don’t be put off by the hippy-style book cover. All in all it’s not a bad effort for a relatively new author.
