Album Review: James Levy And The Blood Red Rose, Pray To Be Free

Album Review: James Levy And The Blood Red Rose, Pray To Be Free Album Review: James Levy And The Blood Red Rose, Pray To Be Free

PRODUCED by Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, this release is about as far-removed from his band’s radio-friendly sonic landscapes as it is possible to be.

James Levy’s gravelly vocals are augmented perfectly by Allison Pierce of The Pierces, bringing to mind the collaborations between Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell.

Stand-outs include Sneak Into My Room and Hung To Dry, both underlining Levy’s talent as a lyricist, plus the musicianship is faultless throughout.

Well worth an investigation.
