Album Review: Paul McCartney, Kisses On The Bottom

Album Review: Paul McCartney, Kisses On The Bottom Album Review: Paul McCartney, Kisses On The Bottom

IN 1999, Macca marked a new era of his life as he ended the grieving process for late wife Linda with his first collection of covers, Run Devil Run.

As he enters a much happier period, embarking on his third marriage, he has again delved back into early inspirations.

Kisses On The Bottom looks back to the tunes he remembered his dad playing.

Standards including I’m Going To Sit Right Down...

(which lends the album its nudge-nudge title) and It’s Only A Paper Moon are given a light piano jazz touch with brushed drums and walking double bass lines.

Macca sounds positively youthful, but the tracks are largely pleasant and unremarkable and work mainly as a novelty.

The main draw is a pair of new songs, among them My Valentine with its Eric Clapton guitar solo.
