YOUR Move Chris Stonock has announced its support of Wooden Spoon, a nationwide charity that has been making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people since it was founded in 1983.

“Wooden Spoon is one of the largest funders of respite and medical treatment centres, sensory enhancement therapeutic facilities, specialist playgrounds, sports activity areas and community- based programmes in the UK,” said chairman Michael Stephenson.

“So far we have granted more than £20 million to these fantastic projects.”

“When Michael approached me to become a patron of the charity, the link to sport – in particular, rugby – attracted me,” said Tim Stonock, area sales director at Your Move Chris Stonock. “We want to support the communities that we do business in and Wooden Spoon makes sure that all the money raised stays in the local community to fund local projects.”

Your Move Chris Stonock’s first event as a sponsor was a garden party at Jesmond Dene Hotel, which raised more than £1,700. During the garden party, a cheque for £25,000 was presented to Doug Long, chairman of Heel and Toe.

“With this contribution from Wooden Spoon we will be able to move to bigger and better premises in Pelton and reach further into the community to help kids with therapy,” said Doug.
