DURING 2013, Darlington Building Society worked closely with local Darlington-based builder Bussey & Armstrong to develop an exclusive mortgage which allows buyers to borrow up to 95 per cent of the price of a property.

Demand was so high that the society loaned more than £1m, many of the purchasers being first-time buyers.

Following the success of this scheme, Darlington Building Society has made a further £1m available for buyers of new Bussey & Armstrong homes at West Park Village on the outskirts of Darlington.

This new mortgage offers loans of up to 95 per cent of the purchase price – and there are no product or completion fees to pay. When the mortgage is drawn down the society will forward the new homeowners a £500 flooring voucher from Calverts Carpets as an additional incentive.

“At Darlington Building Society we are renowned for looking after local interests and feel this encompasses supporting local businesses including builders,” said Val Peacock, the society’s Darlington District Manager.

“Bussey & Armstrong has an enviable reputation for building quality homes so we are more than happy to develop an exclusive mortgage for them. The first £1m was used up quite quickly so we do not expect the additional £1m to be around for long.”

Tracy Ridley, Business Manager at Bussey & Armstrong added: “By being proactive and working together, we have been able to make owning your own home a reality. We are looking forward to a long partnership together with our customers reaping the benefit.”
