TONY MARSHALL in Darlington has kindly sent us this marvellous picture of his great aunt in the Northallerton Rialto Band.
She is May Hallimond in the darker hat, second from the right, in the middle row, and she lived with her husband, Rob, on the green at Ainderby Steeple.
But, aside from the fact that the photograph was taken by AJ Mahomet, of South End Studios, Northallerton, that's all we know. Can anyone tell us anymore?
In the golden age of the silver screen, Northallerton had three cinemas: Cinema de Luxe behind the post office in Romanby Road (1913 to the late 1950s); Central Cinema (1920 until it was demolished in 1961 to make way for the Applegarth car park), and the rounded Lyric in the High Street (1939 to 1995, and now a Baptist church). So where does the Rialto fit in? Any clues to chris.lloyd@nne.co.uk
