REGINALD GIBSON was a cobbler who lived and worked in the Durham City area in the 1940s.
He worked at the Co-op in Sherburn before setting up in Claypath and then being called up into the RAF.
After his national service, he settled near Grimsby, from where his son, Michael, gets in touch.
He is trying to work out a family connection with Maggie Reece, who ran a sweetshop in Framwellgate, next to Stanton’s fish and chip shop, at least into the era of the colour photograph – say, the early 1970s.
