A NEW YEAR’S THOUGHT
Jesus isn’t just for Christmas Jesus is
forever
He said I will not leave you nor
forsake you ever
When all your toys are broken and
cast aside
Jesus will still be here in you he will
abide.
Alan Bennett, Esh Winning

FAITH FOR THE FUTURE
The old year is ended
The shortest day past
2012 is upon us, 12 months it will last
How shall we go forward
With hope or with dread?
With God or the Devil, how choose to
be led?
Will we dare step our boldly?
The Gospel to preach
To face opposition, the evil one’s hate
To speak of good news
While all hell is let loose
But God’s power is greater
The tide can be turned
The highest and lowest, everyone can
be saved.
If men will humble themselves and
pray.
The windows of Heaven can be
opened again.
It’s not going to be easy
The fight will be hard
But victory will come
By the hand of the Lord
Daphne Ridley, Frosterley

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL BORO FANS
(Written before the Blackpool match)

Another year gone
Season halfway through,
Peterborough hiccup,
Forgotten
13 points from 15
Second in championship,
I’m cock-a-hoop.
The blue era of
2009/2010 the season to forget
And 2010/2011 the season
The mother of nightmares
Thank God are distant memories
Its price we fans willingly pay
Even though it’s cruel and unfair.
Barry Robson’s Boxing Day cracker
Has put us on a crest of a wave
With bit of luck
We shall ride to the premiership,
So I’d like to take this opportunity
To wish all Boro fans Happy New Year
And a feast of football for the coming
years.
Khadim Hussein, Middlesbrough

CONFLICT IN THE EAST
Another day
Another death
announced on TV
“Another soldier
lost his life”
(a victim of futility)
Another name
Another lame
political apology
Another hero
coming home
A victim of futility.
Gavin Lee, Shotton Colliery
