A SCHOOLGIRL is looking forward to seeing her written work in print.
Emily Graham’s World War II is based on her wondering what it was like to live during the conflict.
It is to be published in Travel Bank In Rhyme – Little Historians, which is out in the spring.
The 11-year-old, of Fenwick Way, Consett, County Durham, wrote the poem as part of an assignment at Consett Junior School.
World War II by Emily Graham
Hear the guns on the battlefield.
How the men fall to their death.
Why they fought to save us all
And how they lived their last minutes of war.
Was it scary, was it fun?
How did you win?
Was it easy or was it hard?
Did you like it, did you hate it?
Are you dead, are you alive?
Are you watching over your family?
I’m glad I wasn’t in the war.
Her grandmother, Pauline Graham, of Edith Street, Consett, said: “She does a lot of writing and is very good at it and is always making up stories.
“She is chuffed to bits that it is being published and we are all very proud of her.”
The book is available from March 31 and costs £15.99.
