Lotus boss Danny Bahar with his new vice president of global marketing
It's debatable how many Lotus owners will have heard of the New York rapper Swizz Beatz but, from now on, he will be acting as the company's vice president of creative design and global marketing.
Just what he can bring to a low volume manufacturer of small sports cars based in Norfolk has to be open to debate.
In an attempt to justify the Mr Beatz' new job, Lotus claimed: "Like Group Lotus he means business. He's a risk taker ...and... multi-award winning. This man regularly works with the likes of Bono, Kanye West and Alicia Keys."
If that's all they wanted perhaps they should have asked Simon Cowell.
Colin Chapman must be spinning in his grave.
