NEWSPAPERS and magazines often carry adverts for products which seek to relieve insomnia.
Yet there is a guaranteed cure for this condition on your television every Sunday evening.
I refer to Midsomer Murders, which seeks to convince the viewer that three picturesque English villages, total population 250, have a greater murder rate than Chicago during the prohibition era.
Another frontrunner in the boredom stakes was the recent series of Lewis which stopped the clocks in our house. Alas, the magic that was Morse has long since departed and been replaced by a Plod who plods on and on and on with an expression of complete bafflement on his face.
After two hours I knew exactly how he felt.
