REGARDING Councillor Nick Wallis’s comments about fly tipping in Darlington (HAS, May 21). Was he referring to the same Whessoe RoadI drive along each day.

Whessoe Road has increasingly become an eyesore due to fly tipping, as has Burtree Lane.

The problem has been made worse by the skip dubiously placed outside 630 Whessoe Road.

The land it sits on is in dispute and until this is resolved the council tells me that it is unable to do anything.

You can barely see the skip due to the amount of fly tipping.

Just take a little drive further along and you will see the entrance to NEDL’s electricity substation usually obstructed by fly tipped waste.

Both of the properties I mention are either side of the recycling centre.

Surely Coun Wallis does not expect the residents of the area to be so naive and share his belief that the problem will not increase with the introduction of charges at the recycling facility?

Has Coun Wallis taken a trip along Whessoe Rd of late or does he need to visit that well known optician?
