I WAS interested to read Harry Mead’s review of the Richard Benson compilation “The Wit and Wisdom of Margaret Thatcher” (Echo, May 14).

She certainly made some memorable comments during her time as Prime Minister.

I recall an exchange in the House of Commons when she said to the Labour leader Neil Kinnock: “Shouting at the despatch box will not change the law.”

When Shirley Williams was in the news after she decided to accept an invitation to join the Liberal Democrats, Mrs Thatcher said: “After divorce from Labour she flirted with the SDP and now she’s shackedup with David Steel.”
