I AGREE with Anne Turnbull’s letter (HAS, Feb 18) regarding the long-winded system of trying to buy shares in Darlington Football Club.
I also went through the process but was put off wondering whether Crowdcube was a legitimate site and whether I should give them my bank account details.
In fact, I was so worried about internet fraud that I rang the football club and enquired whether Crowdcube was legitimate. Having been told yes, I went ahead with the purchase.
My thoughts are what about people who would like to invest in shares but who do not use a computer? I have not read of an alternative way.
To use Anne’s words, surely a lot of people will be put off?
Linda Goldie, Shildon.
