DAVID HALPERN, who is the director of the Government’s socalled behavioural nudge unit which advises Downing Street on how to make people change the way they behave, must be aware that it will be impossible to force elderly people to downsize from property that they own.
However, the danger is that it may become Government policy to force pensioners out of their social housing homes.
The latest idea from this Government-sponsored loony right-wing think tank is nothing less than social engineering on a vast scale.
Elderly people have enough to worry about with declining health without having to worry about being allowed to continue living in their homes.
By this Government’s interpretation of underoccupation many pensioners living in two bedroom bungalows should move home.
If David Cameron’s multimillionaire Cabinet is so concerned, why doesn’t it set an example by only owning one home?
