LIVERPOOL FC

KENNY DALGLISH has, to my mind, gone from hero to zero with his denial on TV that he saw the incident involving his own player Luis Suarez refuse to shake the hand of Manchester United's Patrice Evra on Saturday.

Why are managers afraid to speak out and condemn their own players? Are they afraid of the players or for their own job?

Any problems that are spoiling our national sport will never be eradicated while we have managers who are afraid to control their own players.

T Seale, Middlesbrough.

I agree. Dalgliesh could have defused this right away by denouncing the stupid action of Suarez on the spot. Instead he let it simmer, so he had to weather all the bad publicity and in the end he had to apologise anyway.
