EVEN council bashers like me must appreciate the massive problems facing Durham County Council due to regionally unfair cuts.
However, I really can’t understand why maintenancefree relatively comfortable vandal-proof and aesthetically pleasing stone bus shelters are being demolished and replaced with shelters which will be inferior on all counts.
The only reason I have been given is that syringes are being found in them.
Surely this is simply moving the problem a few yards round the corner? Sorry, I just can’t see the justification of what must be a considerable sum of money being spent in this way.
