PAT GLASS, the MP for North- West Durham, tells the good people of Consett to cease their petty squabbles and get on with the building of the new Consett Academy (HAS, Feb 6).
She refers to a deal set up for the young people of Consett and the concerns she has represented to Durham County Council in their name.
I am sure the Editor would be willing to give her another extended slot so she could explain to the people of Crook, young and old, what deals they have in mind for them.
Did she go to Durham County Council with any concerns when they decided to close the Glenholme swimming baths and leisure complex?
She could maybe tell us why the county council is moving out of the pagoda in the town centre and proposing to spend £600,000 to equip a gym that we had at Glenholme, move in Social Services and the local library, so it can demolish the present public library and sell the land to the highest bidder. I am sure the local voters in Crook will remember all Pat Glass and the Labour controlled council has done for the people of Crook and Howden-le-Wear, when it is time to pay the piper.
Chris Cavagin, Crook.
