I WAS overjoyed to read (Echo, Jan 30) that the Government has decided to put an end to horror stories from victims of antisocial behaviour but I hope that the proposed measures will actually be enforced.
If five residents complaining about a problem family will be acted upon then I believe the problems we have had to endure on our estate in Bishop Auckland would have been solved two years ago.
Several of our neighbours have been subjected to criminal damage, lurid behaviour, foul language, threatening actions and constant abuse from the parents of the perpetrators.
The effect of anti-social behaviour should never be underestimated.
Nor should the effect that it can have on the victims who are left demoralized and helpless.
Problem families are very adept at playing the system to their advantage.
