I RECENTLY had cause to contact Durham County Council’s Highways Action Line (HAL) regarding a number of street lights being constantly lit, day in, day out, for about five weeks.
No one appeared to have reported this to the council even though there must have been numerous households who would have noticed this power being wasted. There were 13 or 14 street lights lit 24/7.
I emailed HAL on the evening of Monday, March 8, reporting this fault and this was acknowledged on Thursday, March 11.
Yesterday, at approximately midday, these street lights were finally sorted, but it has still taken almost seven working days to rectify the situation. Is this the kind of response we should have to put up with from our county council these days? Let’s hope not.
