Islamic extremism

PETE Winstanley claims the authorities are dealing with Muslim extremists (HAS, March 15). I am sure there are individual instances where extremists are apprehended – but, on balance, the Government’s policy is essentially pro-Islam.

Even the Archbishop of Canterbury has complained that the Government discriminates against Christianity and in favour of Islam. No doubt the fact that about two-thirds of Muslims vote Labour has something to do with it.

Mr Winstanley also claims the authorities prosecute Muslims who incite murder. Oh yes? The Islamic clerics who were filmed in a Dispatches programme, Undercover Mosque, inciting the murder of Jews and infidels have not been prosecuted. Not only that, the Dispatches team was hauled over the coals for having the temerity to draw attention to Muslims inciting murder.

And according to a more recent Dispatches programme, the Government has given millions of pounds to extremist Islamic groups. If it was genuinely impartial, and if it thinks that giving millions to extremist groups solves any problems, why doesn’t it give millions to the supposedly extremist BNP?

Any Martian arriving on planet Earth and looking at the UK would assume, rightly I think, that the Government’s big plan is to Islamise the UK.

Ralph Musgrave, Durham.

Not excellent or interesting or factual, so the Archbishop of Canterbury complains that the government is pro Islam, well how come he sits as an unelected member of the house of Lords along with the Archbishop of York and 23 other Bishops. Hardly shows proof of discrimination by the government against Christianity. Indeed why any religion should automatically have a say in the laws of this land is beyond me.

Firstly any “manifesto for an Islamic revolution” wouldn’t involve “persuasion and open democratic debate” as they already know what the outcome will be.

An Islamic revolution would involve violence and subversion. The violence aspect not only involves terrorism, but threats and acts of murder against those who speak out against Islam. Which when used in conjunction with playing on people’s fear of being called “racist”, helps silence people.

The subversion aspect means getting extremists in positions of power through getting other extremists to vote them in. Once in position of power within mainly Labour and Lib. Dem. councils they issue stupid bans. This serves to discredit both the political Left and Centre, whilst turning to PC Brigade/Muslim Extremists into a media joke so that anyone who sees them as a threat is discredited in the process.

These bans then get extended to include aspects relating to British Culture and non-Muslim faiths. This is done under the excuse that “they may be offensive to immigrants” to imply that anyone who objects is a racist, whilst at the same time claiming that British Culture and it’s history is evil and racist. Which in turn causes an automatic reaction from the Right, who because this comes from Labour and Lib Dem. Councils automatically think that the Pc Brigade are a bunch of anti-British, white, Liberal Lefties who are out to impose some Marxist ideology on Britain.

This ultimately causes those on the Left to side with the Liberals against the Political Right. Each follows into line each other based upon the stereotypes each has of the other. Whilst both fight each other they fail to see what’s going on behind them.
The excuse that a ban on this or the renaming of that goes from being because “it may be offensive to immigrants” to “it may be offensive to Muslims”. Aspects of Sharia Law get introduced into British Law by the back door, whilst tax payers money used to the advantage not just of ordinary Muslims (swimming polls with nights purely for Muslim men or Muslim women), also to Muslim extremists as well as television programmes which promote Islamic culture. The subtlety of which has caused people to reject their own culture and a people with no sense of cultural identity are easier to control and manipulate, .creating a vacuum into which Islam may enter.

Cor! Proper “reds under the beds” stuff, eh? What gullible nitwits we must all be. Thank goodness we have CT to keep us straight.

"people with no sense of cultural identity are easier to control and manipulate"
.
I would have thought the exact opposite was true. Because people without a blind, unquestioning allegiance to some abstract cultural ideal are more capable of thinking for themselves.
.
In fact, most authoritarian societies deliberately cultivate a strong cultural -- nationalist -- identity. The most extreme example would probably be Nazi Germany, but the most appropriate is actually the US, where a lot of people will swallow whatever their government tells them (Iraq, for one) because not to do so is perceived as "un-American".

Chris your argument is valid to some degree. But not when when one culture is trying to impose itself onto another.

Fro example when the Romans invaded Britain they instigated a policy of Cultural genocide to make it easier to impose their values onto the Britons.

When the Irish/Scots invaded what is now Scotland they did the same which is why nothing of Pict culture, mythology or langauage survives beyond that written by the Romans and the Irish.

The Normans did the same to the Anglo-Saxons which is why other than Beowulf and six lesser texts, nothing survives of Anglo-Saxon mythology.

When England gave control of Ireland to Scottish Colonists, these colonists in 1695 introduced the Penal Laws in Ireland. The purpose of which was not only intended to oppress and remove all means of power from Catholics, but to suppress and destory Irish Culture, creating a vacuum by which they could be Anglicised.

However the Irish cultural movement known as `The Gaelic League’ made the Irish aware of their cultural identity to such a degree that it led to the formation of `Sinn Féin’ in 1905 and by 1922 Southern Ireland had gained independence by defeating the biggest empire the world had ever seen.

When Hitler came to power Nazis had mass book burnings so that those aspects of German culture which were did not fit the Nazi ideals were destroyed. The same was done as part of Mao's cultural revolution and Pol Pot's year zero plan.

Culture is a weapon more powerful than any gun, bomb or movement. But to impose an alien culture onto a people requires the people to sepearated from their cultural identity so it can be replaced.
