Arriva services

I REALLY wish I could see into the minds of Arriva management just to see what they are trying to achieve. They have a total disregard for the travelling public and even less for the men they employ.

Since the closure of the Bishop Auckland and Peterlee depots there has been absolute mayhem, service 56 being the worst for lateness, non-appearance and going the wrong way.

Why? Simply because the poor chaps from Peterlee have been thrown in at the deep end and, bless them, they have no idea where they are. Passengers are directing them as only occasionally do they have someone with them to help them.

Service 69 is a close second now being manned from Stockton.

Service 7 and 7a early morning to Durham is the same. A neighbour pays £83 for her son to go to college, and three times in one week recently he has had to stand at the front of the bus to direct the driver. Why could they not let the drivers keep to the areas they know?

I’ve tried for nearly a year for a more reliable service, but no one listens. I’ll keep trying, but it’s like flogging a dead horse.

Mrs Eva Stainsby, Ferryhill, Co Durham.

A good letter but the No.3 service is by far the worst.Shocking at best. How this county council ever awarded the park and ride service to arriva needs investigating.

Perhaps the awarding of the Park and Ride sevice to Arriva was less to do with an efficient service and more to do with who knew who. Not that I'm saying there was anything fishy about it. Well, actually I think there was.

From the letter above, it seems like Arriva services have improved. Just goes to show how bad the services are.

I have little sympathy for the plight of the drivers having to 'travel' to work, for the many years I have missed buses that wouldn't stop or went ten minutes early and the drivers didn't care less, let them find out the difficulties of travelling to work themselves.
Rude, ignorant and unhelpful explains the majority of drivers, whilst the good ones are few and far between.
Arriva is totally unreliable and offers a very poor service, so the drivers must fit in well. The age old problem of buses and ignorant drivers is not new to Arriva, but they certainly are good at it.
As far as the park and ride schems is concerned, no one would dare comment on how arriva got the deal, for fear of telling the truth.
