ON Tuesday, February 2, I had to go to Darlington Memorial Hospital for an operation at 10am. My friend and I got there at 9.40am. We then spent the next 20 minutes trying to find a parking space.
The tailback on the entry to the hospital was at least 20 cars long. We eventually found a space that was reserved for other patients, which only added to the trauma of the impending operation.
This procedure could have been carried out at Bishop Auckland General Hospital, but – as usual – the powers-that-be know better.
If we can no longer use this £67m facility at Bishop Auckland as a hospital, could the same powers-that-be build a multi-storey car park at Darlington Memorial Hospital?
Let’s face it, they make a fortune out of these places in parking fees, so it would pay for itself in no time.
