The Pope

PEOPLE cannot help how they are made, but they can help or hinder challenges in their nature. All compulsions are detrimental.

Restraint is not always easy and this is what needs to be acknowledged in Pope Benedict’s serious concerns about homosexuality (Echo, Feb 3). The Church accepts this exists, but not the unnatural practices which go with it.

What needs to be clarified is whether the UK Equality Bill forces anyone to accept practising homosexuality. In a democracy, there should be choice for all concerned.

Tony Pelton, Catterick, North Yorkshire.

The Pope is very important to his followers who take account of his every word. Religion should really have no place in our democracy.

Unnatural practices? Homosexual behaviour has been observed in nearly 1500 species.
