DO we see the hand of Lord Mandelson behind Gordon Brown’s refusal to come clean on the true cost to us all after a General Election?
Both are men whose personal ambition is paramount and who would sell us and their party to the highest bidder for their own ends. Both are happy to manipulate the truth without conscience for their own rewards.
Knowing that the chances of re-election are slim, Mr Brown puts forward impossible goals about cuts to services to make life more difficult if the Tories get in, his spite at losing his dream overriding any concern for the damage he leaves behind and any thought for the welfare of those he purports to serve.
Then we have the unelected Lord Mandelson, with his eye on a future in the EU, using his considerable influence over the desperate Mr Brown to push these reluctant islands into a subsidiary of Brussels – the same Mr Brown who presided over the collapse of our economy for 11 years, and the same Lord Mandelson whose career has been mired in scandal since he came on the scene of politics.
What an unprepossessing pair they are, but “the gods are perverse” – as Mr Brown’s disastrous term has already shown.
Mrs S Harnby, Stockton.
