Homosexuality

DAVID Cameron has taken it upon himself to apologise on behalf of the Conservative Party for various Thatcher government policies since becoming leader (privatising the railways and joining the Common Market are, sadly, not among them).

However, it is his apology for Section 28 I find most self-indulgent. Section 28, which prevented local authorities (therefore schools, libraries and social services) from promoting pro-homosexual material at public expense, was repealed five or six years ago now.

In my opinion, this may prove to be the “slippery slope” where it then becomes illegal not to promote homosexuality, and there may even follow discrimination against teachers who do not wish to promote it.

I have always supported equality for homosexuals, in terms of employment, pensions and civil partnerships, for example. However, in terms of same sex adoption and actively promoting homosexuality in our schools, I have always been opposed.

I do not oppose legitimate discussion on the issue in our schools (hateful and hurtful homophobia should not be tolerated). I do oppose subjecting children to adult issues.

Raising heterosexual awareness among the impressionable did not work in view of the increases in teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases; promoting homosexuality is just as absurd.

Des More, Darlington.

I agree Des. There is only one political party voicing concers about the issue, the one that is not and never will be afraid of political correctness. This is why it is the fastest growing party despite unfair representation etc, etc.

We are even prohibited from commenting on the said party and this is called 'Hear All Sides'. It should be called Hear Some Sides'!

On the excellent channel 4 Dispatches programme regarding that tolerant religion Islam, homosexuality was described as a vile filthy disgusting practice. The Imans called gays filthy dogs who should be stoned to death, murdered and thrown of a cliff. West Midlands police then tried to prosecute the television programme makers in a blatant act of pc cowardice. As a Christian I can only quote the Bible which correctly describes homosexuality as an abomination. Free speech is only for minorities. What pride there is in the abomination is beyond me.(Ever heard of Aids.)Mandy and the rest of the Mafia who now run Sleazy Labour have at least made sure Labour never ever run this Country again. Let children have a childhood and don't teach them about Sodomisation.

So what when I asked her about her plans for Bishop Auckland I couldn't shut her up. When I asked her about what she would do to bring jobs to Spennymoor or to provided better facilities, you didn't have to be genius to realise she doesn't care.

In fact she is part of the team whose vision for Spennymoor is to turn it into a town where people live but work and entertain elsewhere.

As one Council official told me "other than fight to try and save the hospital, she has done nothing for this town".

Because the only people who care about the future of Spennymoor are those from Spennymoor.

CT-- By the same logic the only people caring about Bishop Auckland would be from Bishop Auckland.

Personally I think it's because Bishop is the larger part of the constituency so more votes come from there, and between that and the tendency of a large part of the electorate to instinctively vote for the red team, she doesn't have to care about Spennymoor.

Actually I think the idea of regional constituencies for the house of commons is pretty silly, but that's another matter entirely.

And we've gotten properly off-topic. My badness.

It means continuing to try and brain wash society into believing homosexuality is both normal and acceptable, when it clearly is neither.

But thanks to modern society objecting to those beliefs means you no longer deemed a good god fearing Anglican, just a homophobe!!! and being a proud north european Briton wanting to preserve his island nations culture simply means your a racist !!!

chriswhite says...
2:28pm Fri 10 Jul 09

"Normal" -- it is: it's found in many, many species and is thought to play an important role in evolution.

"Acceptable" -- What you're effectively saying is that because you personally happen to find the private consensual behaviour of adults to be distasteful, that they shouldn't be allowed to do it.

You'd condemn countless people to lifetimes of misery to avoid offending the delicate sensibilities of you and all the others who have this weird obsession with other people's sex lives.

I mean ffs, didn't you people read Romeo and Juliet in school?

I always remember the comments made by a gay rights activist when the law was changed to allow homosexuals the same age of consent as hetrosexuals 18 from 18 to 16. A certain well known gay activist was heard saying "OK the next step is 14" which I found both disgusting and worrying. I did actualy write much more on this worrying issue but felt it would probably just be deleted by the moderators to prevent the Echo for getting flak from the rather militant gay activists.

Firstly people are trying to make children grow up too early.

When they are old enough (i.e. in their teens) they should be taught about the use of condoms to prevent STDs and unwanted pregnancies.

But most of all they should be taught about relationships and responsibility.

So if someone things there man enough to get their girlfriend pregnant, they should be man enough to marry her and provide for their children.

Because the majority of MPS like the majority of teachers have no life experience outside of the academic world. So they think and act in simple terms of black and white, but life is shades of grey.

----

The default sex for all mammals, including humans, is female. It is merely the introduction of the correct hormones 6 weeks into the pregnancy which turns a female into a male. Equally there’s a difference between the sex of the body and the sex of the brain. The levels of hormone produced by the mother during pregnancy are affected by bio-chemicals absorbed during pregnancy.

Depending on the levels of hormone produced for the body determines if that child
will be born male, female or an hermaphrodite. If the correct proportions are produced then the child will be born heterosexual. If no male hormone is produced then the body goes to the default sex and the child is born physically female but with male chromosomes.

Incorrect hormone proportions lead to homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality and transvestism, in which the body is one sex but parts of the brain are of the opposite sex. The inverse of which can lead to effeminate men and masculine women. Transexuallity is where the body is 100% one sex and the brain 100% of the other. Whilst influence on others levels can lead to people who are born one sex but which to become both (transgender) or neither, gender neutral.

So the whole sexuality thing isn’t as simple as it may first seem.

Although the first five books of the Torah/Bible are credited to Moses they weren't written by him. As the Torah didn't start to take place until after the enslavement of the Isrealites in Babylon.

Genesis begins with references to the seven generations of the Babylonian Gods (this is reflected by the fact that Genesis 1:26 is written in the plural not the singular). Here there were also introduced to the story of Adam and Lilith which became Adam and Eve, and is based upon events within the 4000 BC when people made on of the first attempts at civilisation. The Babylonian myth of Uta-Napishtim became the Noah and the flood, and is based upon the memory of the breaking of the Bosporus portal in 5500 BC. Whlst the Tower of Babel is based upon the great temple towers built in the precincts of Eridu and Uruk during the late Uruk period of 2900 BC.

Whilst the Jewish faith itself was heavily influenced by the monotheology of Atenism. This is reflected by the Hebrew word `Adonai' meaning `My Lord' and when the pronoun `ai' (meaning `my or `mine') is removed the word remaining is `Adon' meaning `Lord'. When translating between Pharaohic Egyptian and Ancient Hebrew the Egyptian `t' becomes `d' and `e' becomes `o', making `Adon' the Hebrew word for `Aten'.

The original guidance, Please!!!!!!

I don't really grasp the gay pride thing either to be fair. If I were that way inclined I'd just tell people to p1ss off and mind their own business.

The point about Romeo and Juliet was that it parallels many people's attitude to same-sex relationships. Two people begin miserable and wind up dead just because "society" disapproves of their relationship.

Your preference not to be offended by the existence of same-sex relationships does not -- ever -- trump the right of people to live how they choose, where it harms nobody else.

'Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness', they'd say in a civilised country.

It could be misconstrued that Mrs Thatcher privatised the railways, (she stated it would be “a privatisation too far”), that was John Major and it was of course Ted Heath that took us into the Common Market.
I will also state, strongly, my letter was in no way intended to question those who practice homosexuality.
My nephew and namesake, is openly homosexual, I am confident that he would be the first to come to my defence if any insinuation of homophobia was offered.
My point on the “slippery slope” is not as “preposterous” as Chris White imagines, or chooses to imagine, The “promotion of homosexuality?,
That is why I why I made the point Chris, section 28 was brought in, solely because there was evidence that some “looney” Left wing councils were actively “promoting” homosexuality in schools, FACT!
I am on a no winner with the deluded Left am I?
They are no longer a relevance since the collapse of collectivism so they simply oppose any and every point those who disagree with them wants too make.
Look at any election and you will see that nobody is listening, even the “great” Arthur Scargil cannot muster a credible vote under the red flag of socialism, so they demonise the opposition, be it Tory, Unionist or BNP instead.
They don’t want democracy, they want their ideology imposed on the will of ingrates who should know better, which is why they defend murderous scum like Castro but state, straight faced, that Thatcher is the demon.
They are a minority, but they have the lot, Civil Service, local governments, health service, education, you name it, the Left have infiltrated it.
I have said it before, I will say it again. If you are not with them on every dot of their failed ideology, you are not to be considered mistaken or worthy of debate, their minds are made up, they are already right.
I am considered wrong if I point out flaws in Labour and now I am wrong for thinking, I will not vote for Cameron just because I despise Gordon Brown, (I always “liked” Blair), in-between times I am just “Right“
Anyway, I am off to Spain were I will debate the ownership of Gibraltar, or simply enjoy a week away from Blair/Brown Britain.

Good point Chris. Some commandments exist for the same reason that there are warnings on many things (such as don't eat the contents of silica gel bags), because some people are too stupid to known why they shouldn't.

Whilst other commandments within the Bible and the Quran, began as tribal laws turned into religious commandments written to suit the needs for the survival and running of a nomadic tribe.

Homosexuality prevents procreation and thus the survival of a tribe. Many minor crimes are punished by death because a nomadic tribe has no means to imprison someone who commits a crime.

As for normal. We use money to pay for things. We eat food cooked by machines. We live in buildings, lit by electricity from power stations. We sit at our computer sending out views into cyberspace.

We are entertained via machines which receive transmitted radio and satiability signals. Or from pieces of plastic read by a tiny laser.
As a species there's nothing normal any of this? If the human race acted as nature intended we'd all still be naked hunter gatherers.

If this is the will of God, then quite frankly most of you are missing the point. Theology is not the end of enlightenment but merely a first step. Enlightenment comes form thinking way outside the theological box and asking questions others daren’t.

But Steve also makes a good point in that if the gay community want acceptance they shouldn't try and force acceptance onto others. As with all things this only produces the opposite effect.

chriswhite says...

The right wing, homophobia, and Christianity's influence on social control are at an end. Get used to it or die off. With regards to sexuality it is a genetic disposition as pointed out by CTRILEY and not a morality based one. Science is our guide, not the 'guidance' of male priests who lived in vastly different times on a different continent 2000 years ago! Also the 50's are gone and they are never coming back. Those of you whose minds are warped by the daily mail and even worse, the bnp I feel sorry for you. The EU IS the future like it or not. How exactly will homosexuality be promoted in schools?!Is it not more likely that children will be taught that adults can be in loving, worthwhile relationships with the opposite or same sex, and this IS perfectly normal and acceptable, which will put an end to out of date, ignorant attitudes?

Pete Winstanley says...
10:09am Sat 11 Jul 09

Spot on, Isabel.

Like Des, I have a nephew who is gay, I know a few other gay people, and I’m sure of one thing: being gay is not a “lifestyle choice,” it is just how some people are. It is not, as Steve believes, unnatural, perverted or sinful. To put it in a way that some of you so-called Christians might understand, God made most people heterosexual, but a few homosexual.

Steve points out that there are no “straight pride” marches. Of course there aren’t – heterosexuals are not a persecuted minority. Gay pride events take place because some gay people want to stand up publicly in the face of hostility and prejudice and say, “We are who we are, we are not ashamed, and we will not be victimised.” Without the widespread hostility towards gay people, there would be no need for gay pride marches.

As for clause 28, David Cameron wasright. It is clear that children need to learn that prejudice or hostility towards people on account of their sexuality is no more acceptable than racism. With luck, the next generation may grow up without the dreadful homophobia which evidently afflicts the likes of J Moffatt and Steve.

Perhaps some of you are parents. Suppose one of your children turned out to be gay – how would you feel if your own son or daughter was the subject of the remarks you have made? Or of your Bible-bashing condemnations?

HESMITH says...

What an ignorant little man you are Colin. Why not take a look at some actual statistics from the department of health and other reputable sources then add a comment. Sexual transmitted disease and infections are much more common in hetrosexual relationships and are rising rapidly, and generally the gay men that I know are the ones who are vigilant about contraception. Where did you get your information about the fights that take place on a Monday night may I ask? Are the levels of violent crime significantly higher than on another week day? Why dont you answer Petes question? How would you react if you found out that your son or daughter were in a same sex relationship and were vilified by homophobes like yourself? Your comments are really offensive and harmful. In the past, I worked with a very troubled teenager who killed himself as he could neither bring himself to tell his family he was gay or live a lie. Your comments could be read by someone as vulnerable as him. And p.s, dont believe everything read, look at a variety of sources if you want to be truly informed, otherwise Im afraid you look a tad foolish.

Although AIDS became well known when it struck the gay community the early 80's it began an amongst hetrosexuals and spread partly because of religious doctrine which bans people using condomns and becuase of their ignorance.

AIDS and other STDs continue to spread amongst hetrosexuals because people think only certain types of people can get infected.

As for your comments about Pete, if he sued you for libel you'd deserve it.

Those who have nothing against gays do so because they are secure within their hetrosexuality.

Some oppose homosexuality simple upon the principle of religious belief, whilst others do it because they aren't sure of their own sexuality.

I'm a hetrosexual man, so I've no reason to know where the nearest gay clubs are, what goes on in there nor do I need to know the internet addresses of gay advice sites.

How can Pete bring a libel case when it was him who wrote it about the children of Brixton?
Link proves my point if you read gadd paper includes evidence the rainbow flag flies over our Town Hall when the beautiful St George Cross should, the gays are strongly into AIDS awareness campaigns and there is cooperation between the police and Gay community to get more people arrested on a Monday night.
The question is CTRILEY in your loony left mind are you trying to turn it into a crime because a Heterosexual wrote post?
Another thing I would like to know is do you think getting involved in Marks family guy games are healthy or are you taking the pea out of him?

You must remember and accept that the HIV pandemic was caused in general by the activities of the homosexual community, especially in California. Even AFTER HIV had been identified many gays in California continued to practise unsafe sex. Then when via Bisexuals and gays selling blood to hospitals spread this aweful disease to the hetrosexual community. It was the gay community that spread HIV globally first, then by selling infected blood past it onto the Haemaphiliacs then the rest of society. You accuse the other chap of ignorance but omit to point out that the higher transmission of STD among hetrosexuals is normal because hetrosexuals outnumber gays by 10 to 1. I can remember watching editions of the US TV news prog 24 Hours years ago when gays thought HIV was a government plot against homosexuality and they in great numbers refused to use condoms or stop having lots of one night stands. You are trying to distort the sad but unpleasant true about the spread of HIV.

No sir I believe you are wrong. The outbreak of this tragic disease originated in the gay communitty of Los Angeles and San Franciso, it first spread to the hetro sexual community via Bisexual activity and primarily with gay men selling blood to hospitals ( innocently as most had no idea they were infected) This caused the spike of HIV in Haemaphiliacs in the short term, then the wave of hiv spreading into the hetrosexual community.

On a lighter note I recall some noted gays had superb senses of humour.
Charles Hawtry one of my favourite comedy actors was once asked if he had ever had sex with a woman he replied " No but I'm sure it is very nice but it cant be as nice as the real thing" !!!

Some of my greatest heros were Gay like TE Lawrence and Alexander the Great, its how people live their lives and what they contribute to society, I've never read of any great homosexual or hetrosexual campaigning to promote their sexuality.

Colin, regardless of someone’s sexual orientation people should be strongly involved in raising awareness of AIDS other STDs, and drug abuse which can also act as a means of transmission. Because AIDS kills, whilst STDs, drug and alcohol abuse not only effects peoples health, but can be passed onto children during pregnancy. Causing children to be born HIV positive, with drug addictions, physical or mental disabilities. As for the violence, I’d ask myself if the violence is because they’re gay, the result of attacks on them by anti-gays, or as I suspect the direct result of binge drinking?

I'm not taking the pea out of Mark. Why would I want to? The reference to these video clips was in direct reference to the Bible, in which no reference to Mark is made. Whilst video references prior to this are largely about having digs at people which Mark and myself both know. In fact yesterday when I spoke to Mark and his brother Adam, he made it clear that he found my comments and references funny, so in effect they’re a private joke between friends. Equally if I had anything against Mark or his brother Adam not only would I have no dealings with them, but I’d use HAS to attack them and their party. Whilst I’d cease attacking the actions and policies of the national and local Government (which I’ve done long before anyone had heard of the Walker brothers), as this would be counter productive.

I used to be what some would describe as “Looney Left”, because I’m willing to give the alternative viewpoint which others don’t want to hear. I’m willing to listen to what others have to say, I get to know them and judge purely upon their qualities as individuals, not upon their race, creed, colour or sexual orientation, which is not only why I’ve friends on the political Left, Right and Centre.

Steve although you are right in what you say. But the conext in which I wrote it was to make reference to the fact that AIDS began in Africa where it and spread amongst hetrosexuals.

But was taken by abisexual to the USA it spread through the gay coommunity of LA and then onto bisexuals and hetrosexuals.

So we're both right.

Think there is wildcat strikes in South Africa at the minute that will probably mean the world cup stadiums are not built on time, the problem FIFA has been employing illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe etc for £3.
They also announced muggins outside the stadium in Johannesburg cannot be investigated.
20,000 had AIDS in Africa before Mandela got out of prison, whites did not mix with the people who had the virus until it reached the USA.

I don’t suppose many people are reading these posts, but just in case there is anyone out there wondering about Colin Wood’s vile insinuation (“I am not speaking to Pete because he sits in parks watching children play”), I had better explain.

Some time ago, I mentioned in HAS that I had been sitting in a park in Brixton waiting for my car to be repaired. I noticed that black and white children played happily together while their parents, black and white, chatted nearby, and that I had seen mixed-race couples, one black parent, one white, with brown-skinned children. I mentioned this in the context of the BNP doctrine of “racial separatism” – the belief that people of different races cannot, and should not, co-exist in peace.

It is presumably because I detest that doctrine, and because he does not wish to confront his own racism and homophobia, that Mr Wood does not wish to speak to me. I have no wish to speak to a nasty piece of work like him either.

For the record, I am heterosexual and a father of two daughters.

Blacks and whites may not have mixed within South African until Mandela was released. But South Africa is one country of 53 which form the continent of Africa.

Equally the references I've found on the origins of AIDS virus state it originated with primates in the
African sub-Saharan and was transferred to humans during the late 19th or early 20th century. For example

Whilst to state or even believe that Blacks and Whites did not mix and have sexual relations within the remaining 52 countries, or in South Africa prior to Apartheid years isn't just BS, it fantasy.

Is it just me or is the raising of the issue of AIDs when discussing a persons sexuality not just a complete red herring?

STDs have been around for ever and AIDs is another one, albeit much more dangerous. However, diseases that afflict certain sections, or all, of society is a totally separate issue to the morality question of homosexuality.

Homosexuality, like STDs, has also been around around for ever. I also do not believe it is a lifestyle choice but a genetic thing.

What two consenting adults do in private, provided it causes no harm to anyone else, is their own business - no-one elses.

And as soon as some religious nut startes spouting biblical sh*te about the sin of homosexuality then I know their argument is lost.

Insh'allah.

Colin,

Does this mean (I could Google it and find an official answer but I thought I'd ask you) that the BNP will not condemn or legislate against any adult on the basis of their sexual orientation?

Colin Wood says...

No point it would be impossible to police.
Better family orientated stories will be on Emmerdale Farm, 7/7 will be more important than paedophile pop stars dying, democracy and elections will definitely be more important in the press than Obama fever and sex accusations etc, etc

Dean M says...

'No point it would be impossible to police' So if it was possible to police would the BNP legislate against homosexuality?

Also, I've never seriously considered voting BNP before, but if you stand for better family-orientated stories on Emmerdale Farm then that is a major step forward for this country. Well done!

We would use existing laws for criminals, if for example the police actually manage to arrest gays fisting in the toilets over the road from Polam Hall school they would be put on community work and made to clean up the dog dirt with Trevor Agnew.
