I REFER to M Embling’s letter giving an extremely well described, but horrendous and bloodthirsty picture of bullfighting (HAS, July 29).
Unfortunately, the accompanying photograph negated the facts and gave the opposite impression – ie, that it is the “fighter” who gets hurt and that the bull can “win”.
It is extremely rare for a bull to “get its own back” (a great pity) and it is common practice for their horns to be shaved, making them extremely sensitive to pain and thereby severely disorientating them.
I was always under the impression that The Northern Echo printed completely unbiased views. I am sorry to see this is not, in fact, the case.
