I WRITE in response to letters complaining about people standing, dancing and swarming to the front during the Elton John concert at Darlington Arena.
Sir Elton John, at approximately 60 years old, had the energy and commitment to perform live (as part of a gruelling tour) in front of 17,000 fans for more than two hours. At one point he even jumped on his stool with a foot on his piano.
Should his fans not acknowledge and reciprocate this commitment by dancing, singing, cheering and generally acknowledging their enjoyment and enthusiasm?
I've waited years to see Elton live. He was fantastic and, yes, I did stand up in my seat on the pitch. I did dance and sing and would do so again.
For me, the organisation and security were brilliant - just how a concert should be. Can't wait for more acts to follow.
To those who have been complaining stay at home, sit in your armchair and listen to a CD.
L Godfrey, Darlington.
