Get well, Gazza

9:19am Tuesday 26th February 2008

I MAKE no secret of my anger at the scandalous and disgusting behaviour of some so-called football stars.

I would in no way put Paul Gascoigne in this category as he is a true star and deserving of the title.

I remember the summer of 1995 when Gazza was a controversial signing for Glasgow Rangers amidst his well-documented personal problems, constant injuries and even his mental state.

As it turned out, he was one of their best signings. For three years Gazza was an artist and Ibrox was his canvas.

He deserves the love and support being offered at this difficult personal time. I hope it is this he takes to heart, rather than the insignificant nobodies who use his last name for their own selfish gain.

I have no doubt his characteristic enthusiasm will get him through this and do not doubt he will have much love and support. I, too, offer my hand and heart.

Des More, Darlington.

I WAS sad to read about Paul Gascoigne's admission to a psychiatric unit. I just hope that once he is released the media leave him in peace for a change.

It must be hell having your every move observed by journalists and the public - no wonder he needs help.

Good luck and get well soon, Gazza. You are a rare diamond, dude.

Christopher Wardell, Darlington.
