WHY can’t we learn from Leeds and Newcastle, and build an A19 western bypass?
The build-up of traffic starts at the Hartlepool junction and ends going out of Teesside.
The North-South traffic would flow much easier and there would be no bottle necks.
So put your new Tees crossing next to Yarm and future proof the system with better access to Hartlepool, Darlington and Durham Tees Valley Airport.
The Darlington Ukip branch, along with other interested parties, last week put in a request for revocation of planning permission.
A request for a development consent order for the land outside the terminal building will safeguard the airport.
The proposed action is to bring road, rail and air transport together within a ‘commercial development zone’ at the airport, which would include a container storage/rail head, distribution storage facilities and haulage operator bases.
An A19 western bypass, along with the airport commercial development zone, will make the Tees Valley a true Northern power, not just a power house.
